Sound Out Chapter Books: Set C-1 - Phonics Reading Books for Kids | Early Literacy Learning & Classroom Reading Practice

This is a great set of books for a struggling reader. The words are easy to sound out and follow typical phonics "rules", which lessen frustration. They also repeat a lot of sight words. While I realize other books do this too, Matt Sims takes great care to provide books that don't speak down to kids. This is important--my first-grade son, although struggling with the mechanics of reading, still desires interesting topics, character development and plot in books. He also wants to read chapter formats like his peers. These books provide both. I highly recommend this series as well as the B-3 set. These books have been interesting, have built confidence, and have been a great jumping off point to more advanced reading.
