When the Sun Rose (Sandcastle Books) - Children's Picture Book About Sunrise & New Beginnings - Perfect for Bedtime Stories & Early Readers

I am a preschool teacher, and bought this book about 10 years ago from a school book fair. Ever since I read it I knew it was a book that I would keep in my collection for my entire teaching career, because its so beautiful. I use this book at the end of the school year to celebrate all the things we have accomplished in preschool; all the joys we have experienced. I sing to the children after reading (a song that parallels the book) and I give each child a hug and a yellow friendship rose and tell them how much they have meant to me, and remind them I won't forget them. I have them sign my guest book because they were guests that came to visit me in my classroom. When the Sun Rose is a great book to close out the year with. It is an excellent example of rich literacy. It's beautiful pictures keep the children's attention. It's short, easy to read and sends a powerful message of love and friendship. I love this book so much. I have bought myself 3rd copy. Reason: It's such a treasure of a book and if it got damaged, I want back ups!
