Kate MacLeod brings the artistry of books and music together in her new recording, “Kate MacLeod at Ken Sanders Rare Books”. An avid reader and a prolific songwriter, Kate marries the essence of nineteen books with songs that capture the imagination. Books that have inspired Kate are wide and varied. They include A Pilgrim’s Progress, written centuries ago, and 2003’s best seller, The Time Traveler’s Wife. All of the songs are fascinating—beautiful “book reports” in song that encompass Kate’s interpretations, responses and understanding of each book’s message. Recorded live with vocals and guitar in a Utah book store that features rare books, this CD has an intimate feel and it seems as though Kate is singing right here in my living room, just to me. The CD is a special experience and Kate’s voice is warm and expresses a kindness and soulfulness that is especially appealing. This is a recording you will have on “repeated listen”. Books never sounded so good.
