Simply incomparable.. A true compilation with CD’s in separate sleeves, organized by composer (ie Kern, Gershwin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, etc). I believe these were recorded in special songbooks recording sessions, so don’t expect interesting old timey recordings. Here, her voice is lush, full, expressive, magnificent. She has been criticized as being too cool and not involved in selling the meaning of the songs, but I don’t find her so. She was one of a kind and, after all these years the voice can still produce deep feelings in the listener. There are many fans for more contemporary popular music divas, but these recordings will introduce you to the master.
